Electrical machines are the beating heart of the modern world. As generators, they produce the electric power and as motors they consume it to produce useful mechanical work in various industrial and household applications. The electrical machines is a core scientific area, within the vast field of electric power engineering and deals with the electromagnetic devices that realize electromechanical energy conversion.
The EMLab Team of the Technical University of Crete, is led by Dr. Konstantinos N. Gyftakis and it focuses in research areas related to Electromechanical Energy Conversion and Electrical Machines. The Team has special research interest in the fields of condition monitoring, fault diagnosis and prognosis, electromagnetic analysis and design of electrical machines and components.
Moreover, the EMLab Team covers educational needs of the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the Technical University of Crete. In particular, the EMG supports the mandatory course “Electrical Machines” of the 7th semester and the optional course (also Master level) “Advanced Electrical Machines” of the 8th semester.
